RPG Grinsia (for Android)

Like?Symphony of Eternity($2.99, 4 stars) and RPG Aeon Avenger ($3.99, 3.5 stars), RPG Grinsia ($7.99 on Google Play) is a traditional, top-down Japanese RPG for most Android phones and tablets with a fantasy setting, cute little cartoon characters, and turn-based combat. Unlike in some of its competition, Grinsia starts you out with a pre-formed party: a family of "treasure hunters" who quickly get drawn into a plan to protect some ancient artifacts from a predatory empire. Translation and character development are actually pretty good here, and you can answer simple yes/no questions in the dialog interface. There's even a bit of comedy.

Grinsia takes place in three scales: a zoomed-in town mode, a zoomed-out walkable world map, and a turn-based battle interface. Battles are more tedious than in the other Kemco games I've played, because fighting always seems to require one too many taps, there's a tedious little XP-acquisition sequence at the end of every battle, and there's very little user choice in terms of acquiring skills and abilities. In a game where you're constantly running into invisible random monster encounters, that's an issue.

Grinsia's other challenge is that it seems to be easy to get stuck; I had trouble about five hours in with a cave where the game's UI elements seemed to be blocking the way out, for instance, and I've seen other complaints online about different locations. There have been a few minor version updates since I played through, though, so those sticky points may have been cleared up by now.

Grinsia isn't a must-buy like Kemco's classic Symphony of Eternity. There just isn't as much fun character-building involved, and the battles don't go as smoothly. But, for eight dollars with no additional purchases necessary, it's a decent plot-driven RPG.

Is Obama really losing the money battle? A fundraising Q

President Obama is claiming that Mitt Romney and his allies could outspend him, but the truth (not surprisingly) is a little more complicated. Here is what's known about the money race.

The recently leaked recording of a conference call among President Obama and some of his top 2008 campaign donors sparked a new round of less-than-rosy headlines about the president?s fundraising. On the call, Mr. Obama didn?t mince words: With donations pouring in to Republican "super political-action committees" and the Mitt Romney campaign, Obama said he is on track to become the first sitting president in modern history to be outspent by his opponent.

In fact, Obama?s campaign has been making this claim repeatedly, in a battery of urgent fundraising pleas during the past few weeks. Republicans, in turn, have been accusing the president of crying wolf ? pointing out that his campaign holds the advantage in cash on hand over Mr. Romney?s.

So who?s right? Could Obama ? who famously shattered all fundraising records back in 2008, collecting nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars ? actually lose the money race this time around? Or is he just trying to instill fear in the hearts of Democratic donors who have been reluctant to pony up?

The short answer: Yes and yes.

Obama may wind up being outspent, but he?s still ahead in fundraising for now (we think ? though the activity of some outside groups is murky enough that it?s hard to be totally definitive). What seems more certain is that the president won?t wield anything like the overwhelming cash advantage he had over Sen. John McCain in 2008. Instead, 2012 is shaping up to be a very competitive fundraising battle that will probably break a variety of records.

Here's attempt to answer some of the questions ? and puncture some of the myths ? surrounding the candidates and the fundraising efforts on their behalf.

Question: How can Obama seriously be worried about money? What about all those fundraisers with George Clooney and Sarah Jessica Parker?

Answer: Certainly, Obama ? who has spent more time fundraising to date than any of his White House predecessors ? can hardly be described as cash-poor. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee together have raised $461 million this campaign cycle (through the end of May). That?s way ahead of the combined $298 million raised by Romney?s campaign and the Republican National Committee.??

Anderson never loses his core themes - young love, the need to escape, the bind and bluster of family. His "Kingdom" may not be large, but it is perfectly appointed.

Though undeniably smart and charming, "Moonrise Kingdom" loves itself the way the callow Holden Caulfield loves himself: unconditionally. Salinger understood the problem with that. Anderson may not.

The latest unadulterated delight from Wes Anderson, director of "Rushmore," "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox."

The usual complaints and caveats about Anderson - he's precious, his characters have no grounding in the real world - can be made about Moonrise Kingdom, but so what?

Anderson and his actors are able to convey more genuine feeling through these devices than most filmmakers can with more-traditional means.

One knock against some of Anderson's previous efforts is that they're too clever - so clever, in fact, that the humanity gets sucked out of them. That doesn't happen here.

Anderson's movies work best if they're about kids or cartoon animals.

Among the all-stars, Edward Norton made me repeatedly chuckle, and it's always a pleasure to see Bruce Willis when he's not operating in paycheck-whore mode.

A sweetly kooky ode to the intensity of young love. The movie balances broad comedy with occasionally surreal quirk, while still holding the emotional center.

The adults who are so desperate to return the kid fugitives to their care actually envy the children's freedom, irresponsibility and, yes, love -- in a word, their youth: The kingdom that eventually makes exiles of us all.

The frustrating Anderson is improving, and he may one day shed the collegiate hipster aura that infuses his work.

The plot isn't as fetching as the presentation, starting with the tersely whimsical dialogue. There aren't punch lines for big laughs, but rather a seamless series of non sequiturs for smiles.

It's funny, it's touching, it's Anderson doing what he does better than he's ever done before.

Wonderfully inventive and entirely immersing.

The great thing about Wes Anderson, other than his fabulously childlike imagination, is his deep attention to the smallest details.

This isn't Wes Anderson's best effort by any stretch. However, any Anderson is better than no Anderson at all.

This film contains some of cinema history's best lightning strikes.

Wes Anderson's films are stylistic carbon copies of each other, merely swapping out storylines and characters. It's like going to a bunch of different restaurants and ordering the exact same meal -- you walk in knowing what you're going to get.

Most of Wes Anderson's previous pictures came from the head; Moonrise Kingdom is one from the heart.

Moonrise Kingdom is a charming reminder of Anderson's particular talent for spinning fantasies about the collective childhood we all wish we had.

As fussy as anything Anderson has ever done, but instead of being overstuffed, as virtually all of his movies have been, for good and ill, [the film] is mostly delicate.

A sometimes precocious but mostly whimsical and artfully fluent evocation of adolescent enthusiasm and adult ennui.

Anderson's latest effort is like an Instagram photo - a nostalgic snapshot that seems to be of different time and place but is really the twee affectation of a world that never existed.

[Anderson] may make it look easy because of how firmly his mannerisms are established at this point, but it takes a real artist to evoke the rocky emotional storms of adolescence and adulthood with such clear eyes and precise voice.

Keep a journal. Write your schedule along with the things that you need to accomplish for the day. But, you should not limit yourself to what was written on it.

Take a break once in a while. If you are seated in front of a computer all day long doing your work, then you deserve a break. It does not, however, necessarily mean that you have to cut down some of your working time, all you have to do is make sure that you are utilizing your free time to do something that you enjoy. It could be something like, going to a salon, strolling in the park, or going to theme parks. This is a perfect opportunity to discover a new hobby, make new friends and immediately release that stress.

Be generous to others. No, generosity here doesn?t necessarily mean about money, you can give away your smile, a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen to other?s problems, and give a piece of advice. Your generosity will come back for sure when? time comes that you are the one who might be needing of someone else?s generosity too.

Accept the things that we cannot change. Normally, we seek for a solution for every detail of our problems, but, admittedly, there are things that we cannot change. Thus, we should keep in mind ?to accept the things that we can?t change?. Let?s not allot too much time dealing with it, instead admit that you can?t do anything but accept it. Explore. Be positive and find a better way out.

Do something new and break the pattern of your life. Take the challenge and discover something new every day.? Broaden your horizon and discover some new opportunities.

Do something that scares you too. This will equip you with self-confidence and self-esteem that will surely radiate from within you.

Goals are good to keep you motivated.? Some people tied themselves very strictly. Because you are so rigid in following it, you will end up missing a lot on your life.

Stop procrastinating. Do what you have to do today. Having to achieve and complete the task you have for the day will leave you feeling good. Your life will be more organized if you stop putting off something for tomorrow that you could have done today.

In short, be positive all the time. Take away all the bad vibes that surrounds you. Possessing a positive aura will attract the attention of other people. This will create a suitable surrounding for self-development.
