GOP Front runners 2012 Position on Immigration - City Gate ...

The United States as a country was founded by immigrants, and it is fueled by them.? Immigrants did the work that others did not want to do; they brought knowledge, money and/or expertise to lay a foundation of what today we know as the United States of America.

Even though legal immigration, of entrepreneurs and those educated, has been encouraged over centuries, ?it has been since the mid 1980?s that we have stopped focusing on them and shifted all of our attention on those coming into the country by hiding inside of trucks. Even with the harsh economic situation that most Americans are facing today, many people in poverty in other countries still fantasize about living the ?American dream.? ?The thought of no longer making $10 a day, but instead an hour is beyond them. ?The dream of providing for their elderly parents and higher education for their children, or simply getting out of debt, is enough fuel to motivate them to cross the border, and risk their lives, in order to provide their family with a better one.

The difference between Romney and Santorum on Immigration is almost nonexistent. Both have expressed their support of legal immigration, of the entrepreneurs and highly educated ones. Both agree on stop providing incentives that promote illegal immigration, such as in-state tuition rates. Both want to secure the border more, Romney stated that he would complete the construction of a high-tech fence.

So, if you support the right of illegal immigrants to stay and earn a living in the U.S, because we are all ?created equal? then you are not in luck with either of these candidates or with Obama, who holds the same position as them.? Maybe in 5 years!
