All England Open: Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk demolishes Sho Sasaki in Men?s Singles round-of-16
Thailand?s upcoming player Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk showed his staggering skills in the arena and secured his berth in Men?s Singles quarter-final after defeating Japan?s Sho Sasaki in round-of-16 clash at Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships 2013 on Thursday, March 7, in England.
The un-seeded Tanongsak, who played with smashing speed in all matches in the championship, showed a wonderful aggression in the pre-quarter-final battle and eventually outwitted his experienced Japanese challenger in a lopsided fashion.
Tanongsak was aggressive from the starting points of the match and he maintained his domination all the way and ended up this 32-minute contest in straight games with a smashing 21-9 and 21-11 score on the board.
On the other hand, the experienced Sasaki was surprised with the attacking and positive play of his Thai rival. He did not expect such a cruel treatment from Tanongsak and bowed down to him with a humiliating score on the board.
Many people thought that Sasaki will be through to the quarter-final as he was the favourite to win this round-of-16 contest against the young Thai shuttler.
However, Tanongsak turned things around in his favour by playing attacking and positive badminton from the start of opening game and took a superb lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Sasaki tried his level best to play positive game but he failed to break the rhythm of his Thai opponent at any stage and remained struggling all the way.
Meanwhile, Tanongsak stayed composed in his temperament and eventually wrapped up the opening set with a staggering 21-9 score on the board.
In the second game, Sasaki tried to change the tempo of rallies but he failed to create gaps in Tanongsak?s court and again remained trailing behind on score board until the break.
In the concluding phase, the spirited Tanongsak continued playing with confidence and he did not let the pace of rallies down at any stage. He remained positive all the way and ended up the set with a stunning margin of 21-11 and sealed off a spectacular victory against the Japanese shuttler.
In the quarter-final contest, Tanongsak will be up against Indonesia?s in-form player Tommy Sugiarto who easily won his round-of-16 battle against Chinese Taipei?s Tien Chen Chou.
